Discover the unique flavors of Papua New Guinea coffee, a gem in the world of gourmet coffee. This coffee heritage dates back to 1926, with the introduction of Jamaica Blue Mountain seeds, also known as Typica, giving rise to what is affectionately called "Little Blue Mountain."
In 1962, the New World and Caturra varieties were introduced from Brazil, revolutionizing the quality of PNG coffee beans. Today, 95% of Papua New Guinea's coffee is high-quality Arabica.
Grown in the highlands, where 70% of the population relies on agriculture, these beans are nurtured in an ideal environment. The coffee is primarily produced in five provinces:
- Western Highlands: 45%
- Eastern Highlands: 37%
- Chimbu: 6%
- Morobe: 5%
- East Sepik: 5%
Papua New Guinea's grading system is unique, considering not only the size but also the shape, color, and quality of the beans. Export grades range from AA, A, X for estate coffees, to PSC (Premium Smallholder Coffee) and Y for smallholder coffees.
Flavor Profile: Indulge in the deep roast of these beans, with notes of ripe fruit, chocolate, and nuts, offering a rich and full-bodied experience.
